Tatsuya Japanese Restaurant

For someone who doesn't take sashimi or try something different, Bento's a safe bet. :P

Tenpura Bento (7/10)

I would rate the food in this bento average, but the potato salad was exceptional! I can have just one whole plate of that for my lunch!

Salmon Sashimi

My hub enjoyed this dish, but felt that the salmon he had last year at Nogawa were better.

Don't you agree that it looks very appetizing with the flower? :D

Half Cooked Salmon Belly Sushi

My hub was full of praises for this...

... and this.

Half-cooked Scallop and prawn sushi

These half-cooked sushis, according to the waitress, are very popular in the restaurant.

Tambuah Mas

How I love the food in Tambuah Mas!

I haven't been eating well for the past one week, but the food at Tambuah Mas really helped to pick up my appetite! :D

Snacks (8/10)
A mixture of our favourites - Keropok and peanuts!

Ayam Korma (10/10)
The chicken was tender and was easily 'cleaned' off from the bone. The gravy was so good, we actually drank it straight from the bowl instead of pouring it over the rice. Sedaaaaap! :P

Nasi Kuning (8/10)

Ahh... I can still remember the aroma that lingered in my mouth with each bite I took. So good you can even eat it on its own. :P

Tahu Telor (7/10)

It was piping hot! :) Only the tofu coated with the sauce were nice though. The rest were a lil bit bland.

Kangkong Belachan (9/10)

The spiciness in this dish was shiok! And this is coming from someone who doesn't take chilli/belachan or the likes frequently. :)

Service
I thought it was nice of the lady to bring us a glass of cold water after we had finished our lime juice. :)

Quick Bite

"Shall we take a quick bite at Quick Bite?" I sms-ed JN.

I suggested that not because of any good reviews or whatsoever, but because the name of the snack stall matches with what we were going to have before rushing for our 730pm show. Sounds silly right? :P

Anyway it turned out that the food was not bad!

Original Lover (8/10)

The rice tasted great with the sauce. Its level of sweetness was just right. The chicken meat was tender and savoury. It would be at least a 9 if not for quite a few charred areas. No good for health. *wags forefinger*

JN wasn't too impressed with what she has ordered though.

Price

$6 inclusive of passionate fruit drink
Value for money!

Place
The Cathay

My firsts.

That was the first time I have my meal at Quick Bite, the first time I have been to The Cathay (yes, I am that sua ku) and the first time I watched a movie with JN!

But this is certainly not the first time I am watching a dance movie. Those who catches dance movies regularly will more or less know the copy-and-paste plot. It usually involves delinquency, a guy and a girl, one of which is forced to do a dance he/she doesn't like and ends up putting a great show with the support of his/her partner. Those who were initially against them will always smile in approval after watching their performance. :P

This is with the case of "Step Up 2" that I have watched today.

Those who are looking for some interesting or new plots can forget about watching the show.

Having said that, I still find that movie rather enjoyable. Not in terms of plot, of course. But rather, on the moves (as always).

I particularly like the part whereby the actor do the pull-and-let-go action with the actress (as seen on the bottom of the poster above). Very natural. I love the soundtrack, "Low" by Flo Rida too. Makes me wanna grooove to the music. And yes, Andie's so chio and sexaaay, especially when she's drenched! *drools* :P~~~

I hardly have friends who likes watching hip hop dances too. In fact, JN's the only one I guess. So if you are reading this, JN, thanks for jio-ing and for being such a great company! :)

Manhattan Fish Market

As with New York New York, our curiosity were aroused. Is the food really that good? Are the people at the queue know what they are in for? Or are they just waiting to find out?

At 2 plus in the afternoon, we managed to get a seat without having to queue. The restaurant was still quite packed even at this off-peak hour.

Cream of Mushroom (7/10)

Not rich enough for me.

Manhattan Caesar Salad (6/10)

So far, no other caesar salad beats my caesar salad at Spizza. None.

Fish and chips - Butter Cod (5/10)

Sorry to the many fans of Manhattan fish and chips out there. This is just my personal opinion. The fish and chips here doesn't work for me.

I ordered (presumably) the best type of fish available, butter cod, so that I can do a comparison with Greenwood. It seems like that was absolutely unnecessary. This fish and chips isn't anywhere near the standard of Greenwood. It was too oily for me and my poor stomach. I felt very nauseous for the rest of the day. ;P~~

Grilled Norwegian King Salmon Fillet

Took a bite. I didn't like it. Maybe it's just me, since I don't like salmon in the first place... maybe it's not. My hub had thumbs down for this too. :P

"Me and my old crab lives here!" This little sign on the wall did amuse me a little. kekeke

Azabu Sabo - Hokkaido Ice Cream

Look at the variety of flavours to choose from! :P~~~ I can't decide...

... Actually, I don't have to. I wanted Hokkaido Hot balls, and the top up for ice-cream only comes in one flavour - Vanilla.

Hokkaido Hot balls (7 for the balls and 9 for the ice cream)
Topping was chocolate syrup and almond

Rum and Raisin (Me - 5/10 coz I don't like the flavour. My hub - 9/10. He loves it!)

Price

Hokkaido Hot balls - $2.80+$1
Rum and Raisin single scoop - $3.80

Bratwurst Shop

As suggested by Ice.

Hearty Minestrone (8/10)

Look at clumsy hubby.

It happened in a split second so I didn't catch him in action. :P The soup reminds me of ratatouille in Carnivore...

Black Pepper Pork (6/10)

Chicken & Mushrooms (7/10)

I didn't like the skin of the sausage.

Baked potato (9/10)

I have taken baked potato with mayo or bacon beads, but never with melted cheese. I think I am hooked to this new combi! Will do one for myself when I am back in the kitchen in a few mth's time! :P

Price
$20+ for a soup, two sausage tortillas, 1 baked potato and 2 sprites.

Hang Heung 老婆饼

My hub bought 老婆饼 for his 老婆 (me) to snack on. How sweet! And how timely! I was famished because I had a quick and early dinner today.

He boasted, "This is imported from HK one ah. Only selling at Taka Atrium now."

The next moment, I spotted this.

"They have a cake shop in Singapore lor!" My lor + exclamation mark seemed to have shaken his confidence a little.

"Issit?" he asked sheepishly.

As I was typing this, I think he's right! :P I mean which cake shop would locate itself in the high floors of an office building? :P

Anyways, The 'wife cake' was a little warm when I took it and that's always a plus point for me. The crust was good! I am sure you can tell from the following photo ... :)

老婆饼 (8/10)

I can't say the same for the fillings though. A little too bland for me.

Lemongrass Thai Restaurant 2

After my previous visit to Lemongrass Thai Restaurant, I knew I had to return again. For the good food, and for proving my hub wrong when he said that I find the food tasty because I was hungry. :P I got my mother to come along with me this time.

The dishes were pretty much the same, except one.

This.
Hotplate Chicken (6/10)

It was really good initially. When it came sizzling and placed before us. The meat was tender and the sauce was complementing. However, when it cooled down, it turned for the worse. The meat hardened and even my chin-chye mother couldn't bring herself to eat it. :P
The rest of the dishes were the same as before...

... and much to my delight, my mother has agreed that this fried rice is exceptional! :D

I've got this 30% discount voucher for Lemon Grass Thai Restaurant and I just have to use it, somehow. *women and their discounts* :P

Type
Thai

Quality

Minced chicken stuffed omelette (8/10)

Prawn Tom Yam Soup (9/10)

It tasted so authentic, I was instantly reminded of that bowl of fantastic Tom Yam Soup I had back in Phuket. :)~~~

Thai Style Fried Rice/Crabmeat (10/10)

I tell ya, I have never eaten such tasty fried rice before. Even Chen Fu Ji's fried rice is not his match. The rice was soft and not oily. Flavourful yet not overwhelming. I noticed that fried rice cooked with crabmeat just taste exceptionally good. Coincidental? Hmm... Who cares! :)

All these dishes are enough to keep me coming back, not to mention that there are so many yummy dishes on the menu that I have not tried! If I am a rich tai tai, I will make sure that I patronise this restaurant at least thrice a week. No, no, correction. If I am a rich tai tai, I will hire the chef to teach me how to cook! Ok, dream on.

Although my hub had no complaints about the food, he felt that I have overrated the dishes. He insisted that my hunger caused me to make a skewed judgement of the food quality. He is one annoying critic. >_<
