Sweet and Sour Fish (5/10)
The sauce was good, but the fish was not very fresh.
Braised chicken with mushroom and chestnut (8/10)

Mom's Cooking
With a baby in tow, I haven't had the luxury to go round the island for good food for the longest time. :P
It didn't occur to me until recently that I actually had good food being delivered to me every weekday and that I can actually blog about it!
I used Mom's cooking for my confinement and have continued using their services ever since. Yes, I did not 'subscribe' to those overly-priced confinement food catering because I was skeptical that oily food like pig trotters with vinegar, etc can do me good :P and that the food from Mom's cooking are nutritious enough for me.
If you are doing your confinement soon / are looking for catered dinner, do consider Mom's cooking. No added MSG, use of canola oil only, and use of environmental friendly and quality paper containers.
If you are also a customer of Mom's cooking, do drop your comments and let me know if you agree with my food reviews! :)

Note to you
To spammers : FYI, I filter all the comments coming in. I am sorry that you are only wasting your time.
To readers of my blog : You still won't be expecting many food entries from me in the next few months or so. Will probably start a new blog on the new chapter of my life. Do drop me a comment if you would like to be included. I will keep you informed of my new link once it is up. ;)
To those whose links are in my blogroll, I am still following you! Keep those post going ya? ;)

能吃是福
What is it like for a foodlover not to love food?
I can't imagine, but I don't have to.
I didn't like food one bit for the past few months... and I still don't.
The food blogs that I used to enjoy reading so much doesn't appeal to me anymore. Even tv programmes related to food turn me off.
At times, food have to be forced down my throat, simply because that's the only way to stay alive. How sad does that sound to you?
I am glad that this is only temporary and my appetite is likely to pick up soon. :)However, I will certainly look at food from a different perspective from then on.
If you are a food enthusiast, please do count your blessings for... '能吃是福'

NUS Claypot Rice
I was at NUS today and although it wasn't meal time, I couldn't resist walking down to the science canteen (not too sure what it is called now) to order claypot rice. Beancurd claypot, to be precise. Just looking at it makes me smile.
I wanted so much to tell Auntie that I came to this canteen JUST for her claypot, but was afraid that it was too much info. :P
While waiting for the food to be heated up, I realised that they have won quite a number of awards and they were actually the winner for that Felicia Chin school canteen show! I was so happy to see that because I really think they deserve it.
Auntie accidentally hurt herself when she brushed her fingers against the extremely hot claypot. That's when she started to share with me how she refused to let her customers change the orientation of the claypot for their own good, but some of them refused to listen. She even showed me all the red marks on her hand resulting from the burns in her daily course of her work. :(( So guys, if you are having claypot at NUS science canteen, just be nice to Auntie. She may look fierce, but she's a nice lady.
Food wise, I still prefer the taste few years back (wonder what's missing), but there's still a sense of happiness after I have finished the food. :)
Getting nolstagic, perhaps. :P

Peramakan
The Peranakan restaurant everybody's talking about. :)
I did a poll on which dish everyone like best...
Ikan Masak Kuah Nanas (6/10)
That's my husband's favourite. I don't really like it though.
Bakwan Kepiting (10/10)
That's my favourite. It's the BEST Bakwan Kepiting that I have ever tasted. The meat was tender and the soup was light, yet flavourful. All my family members each took a bite of the Bakwan. They find it nice, but were not as excited about this dish as me. :P
Satay Babi Goreng (6/10)
That's my brother's favourite (it has to be - because he ordered it! ha!)
It doesn't work for me as there were too many fatty parts.
Chap Chye (6/10)
So far, I have not had a Peranakan chap chye that impresses me. Not even at Peramakan. Even the chap chye at kopitams/food courts can score better. :P
Nobody chose this as their favourite.
Buboh Terigu (3/10)
Apom Balik
*Brief Pause*
Hub: Mine sucks.
lol! We had a good laugh back then.
Durian Pengat (7/10)

Dessert time!
Buboh Pulot Hitam (3/10)
Buboh Pulot Hitam (3/10)
My brother was like so proud of his order, and that prompted me to try.
I didn't like it AT ALL, but I guess it's boils down to my preference, rather than the standard of the dessert.
Buboh Terigu (3/10)
Didn't like my mom's order too. >.<
Apom Balik
Mine is still the best choice!
Just when all of us were boasting away on what a wise decision we have made on our own dessert, my hub stayed quiet as he feeds himself with his durian pengat in a robotic manner.
Bro: "Mine is the best"
Me: "No, mine is the best. Yours sucks"
Mom: "No, Mine is the BEST!"

Durian Pengat (7/10)
I wouldn't say it's that bad, but after a few spoonsful, you can get rather sick of it.

Tatsuya Japanese Restaurant
For someone who doesn't take sashimi or try something different, Bento's a safe bet. :P
Tenpura Bento (7/10)
I would rate the food in this bento average, but the potato salad was exceptional! I can have just one whole plate of that for my lunch!
Salmon Sashimi
My hub enjoyed this dish, but felt that the salmon he had last year at Nogawa were better.
Don't you agree that it looks very appetizing with the flower? :D
Half Cooked Salmon Belly Sushi
My hub was full of praises for this...
... and this.
Half-cooked Scallop and prawn sushi

These half-cooked sushis, according to the waitress, are very popular in the restaurant.

Thank you so much, my dear readers, for asking after me when I have not been posting for so long. Especially to Yvonne and Jamie! You girls are the sweetest. :)
All these while, my camera hasn't stopped clicking... but most of the food photos are either still tucked somewhere in my PC or have not even been uploaded! :P
I can't commit that I will post as regularly as before, but I will definitely share the better ones whenever I am free, as a form of appreciation to my readers and to alleviate some of my guilt for 'abandoning' this site. :PP
I will start off with Tatsuya, a nice Japanese restaurant recommended by Ice in her blog.
More back-dated blogs below.

Ba Kut Teh @ TPY
It's comforting to know that my hubby didn't like my Ba Kut Teh, not because it wasn't tasty, but because he preferred the 'Teochew' version of it.
This Teochew guy has this satisfied and contented look after eating the following...
Teochew Bu Kut Teh (8/10)
... with this.
Tau Pok (8/10)

Brown Sugar
Mushroom Sphagetti (3/10)
The pasta was not well-cooked. My mouth was aching after the continuous chewing. The sauce was good though, but it doesn't help much. :P
Their signature - Molten 100% Valrhona Chocolate Cake (8/10)
