Pity my hub didn't even try a single one (not that I left him with none). :P

This is a popular recommendation made by most floggers. And because chocolate's my favourite too, I didn't take long to choose.



I say this is nice! I find 'mousse-like mixture' (as described by Ice) too overwhelming though. In terms of quantity. I prefer a thicker biscuit crumble. >_<

Shih Lin Taiwan Street Snacks

One of my friends once told me, "Our local Shih Lin chicken cutlet is nothing compared to the authentic Taiwan Shih Lin night market's chicken cutlet."

I have tried the Taiwan's version. Yes, the one with the super long queue.

I too, queued (in the drizzle) for a good 20-25 minutes just to buy this 'must try'. :P Frankly speaking, I felt that it was over-rated by many.

My friend's comments kept me well and away from the local Shih Lin's stall for quite a while. I mean if I consider the authentic one so-so only, how much better can the local one be?

My curiosity gave way.

It was fried to a golden crisp and was still piping hot (I can still see the steam after minutes!) when it was served. *crunch crunch* The spice that was added after frying also gave an extra punch to the end product!

Quick Bite

"Shall we take a quick bite at Quick Bite?" I sms-ed JN.

I suggested that not because of any good reviews or whatsoever, but because the name of the snack stall matches with what we were going to have before rushing for our 730pm show. Sounds silly right? :P

Anyway it turned out that the food was not bad!

The rice tasted great with the sauce. Its level of sweetness was just right. The chicken meat was tender and savoury. It would be at least a 9 if not for quite a few charred areas. No good for health. *wags forefinger*

JN wasn't too impressed with what she has ordered though.

My firsts.

That was the first time I have my meal at Quick Bite, the first time I have been to The Cathay (yes, I am that sua ku) and the first time I watched a movie with JN!

But this is certainly not the first time I am watching a dance movie. Those who catches dance movies regularly will more or less know the copy-and-paste plot. It usually involves delinquency, a guy and a girl, one of which is forced to do a dance he/she doesn't like and ends up putting a great show with the support of his/her partner. Those who were initially against them will always smile in approval after watching their performance. :P

This is with the case of "Step Up 2" that I have watched today.



Those who are looking for some interesting or new plots can forget about watching the show.

Having said that, I still find that movie rather enjoyable. Not in terms of plot, of course. But rather, on the moves (as always).

I particularly like the part whereby the actor do the pull-and-let-go action with the actress (as seen on the bottom of the poster above). Very natural. I love the soundtrack, "Low" by Flo Rida too. Makes me wanna grooove to the music. And yes, Andie's so chio and sexaaay, especially when she's drenched! *drools* :P~~~

I hardly have friends who likes watching hip hop dances too. In fact, JN's the only one I guess. So if you are reading this, JN, thanks for jio-ing and for being such a great company! :)

Cathay Snacks

Just watched 'Horton hears a who', on the account that it was from the same creators as 'Ice Age'. :P

The animations were not bad, but I wasn't tickled.

I was intrigued, though, by Horton's thoughts. He believes that there are tiny people living in the speck that he sees. He feels that maybe these tiny people aren't small and that he is big. Maybe there's even someone out there bigger than him and his world, and he and his friends are actually the small ones.

"Are you looking at your reflection in the river or is the reflection looking at you? Which is real?"

I still remember this sentence from my literature teacher, even though it was more than 10 years ago. Although most of my classmates dismissed this almost immediately, I pondered over this for quite a few days with all the 'what-ifs' in my mind.

Oh ok. Enough of my out-of-the-world thoughts. :P Back to the food.

I watched Horton at AMK hub. I must say that this cineplex really offered a good variety of food for cinema goers. I even saw cakes at the display. :P Just want to share what I had.

Chocolat N' Spice

Retiring at the age of 40+, he is the envy of many, me included.

But that sets me thinking.

Is it better to slog your life away (leaving very little time for entertainment) when you are younger (20s-40s) and retire earlier, or to enjoy and 'lax' a bit while you work till the retirement age of 62, 65 (sorry, I lost track)?

We met a couple during an overseas trip. They retired 1 year ago at 50+ and have been travelling around their own country in a caravan since then. According to them, they have worked hard enough and it's time for them to enjoy. Fair enough.

While I can share the joy of them reaping what they sowed, a part of me wonders. What if someone worked his/her lungs out, but did not get to enjoy what they have sowed?

You know what I mean.

Illness, accidents, 'acts of others', blah blah blah. In this world of uncertainties, nothing is impossible.

So, what's your take on this?

Ok ok, I digressed. Let me try to link back.

Let's see. Where were we? Oh yes, this semi-retired person we know was the one who introduced me to the food I am going to talk about now. How's that? :)

'You should try the muffins here! Just go straight and you will see a queue. It's called Chocolat N' Spice', he recommended. He sounded so enthusiastic (as he always is) about the muffins that my hub and I just have to check it out.



It was not even noon and the queue was already there.



We wanted to order juust one muffin to try, but we were 'pressured' into buying another when all those in front of us ordered a minimum of 5! >_<

Anything that goes into my mouth must go through the intial stage of strict screening and filtering by my eyes. In general, I don't like to try food that doesn't look good or comes in 'weird' colours (IMO). The following is a very good example.

That's why I frowned when my hub bought 2 glasses. I thought I merely wanted a sip!

After I took my first sip, I was soooo glad he bought 2 glasses. Never mind the green, 'ugly' liquid I see, this Avocado shake that I drank was really good stuff. Rich, milky and fragrant.

The first thing the lady said when she brought the drinks to us was, 'Do make sure you get the correct stall the next time. We lost many customers to them'. Apparently, my hub almost went to the 'imitation' stall when they called out to him, but returned to the original one after seeing so many write ups and photos from the media at the stall.

So peeps, don't go to the wrong stall, ya?

Yella Fellas

I am a big fan of fries. Even the photo at the top of my blog says so. If I didn't call myself 'Food Lover' back then, it would probably be 'Fries Lover'. :P

Thus, when I read about the Yella Fellas in Camemberu's and and Ice's reviews, I knew I had to give the fries in this stall a try.

The different condiment for our yella (but no, not dirty) fellas.

Donut Factory

"Look at what I have gotten for you. It's in the fridge", my hub prompted me when I came back.

I thought he must have bought something for me to eat again, but it was more than that.

"You light up my life." The first words that put a wide smile across my face.

Oh... Donut factory. I've heard all the raves (and queues) on this, but I never had the urge (nor the time) to join the crowd in this donut frenzy. Not even at the suntec branch with shorter queues. I will try the donuts... only if I didn't have to queue.

My hub was with me all along. He doesn't believe in following the trends blindly either. Which is why he surprised with me this box of donuts. When I opened up the box, I was touched. No tears, but yea, it moved me. Knowing that it's just not my hub's style to queue up for such stuff.

on the donut, I just have to pounce onto him and give him a real big hug. He's such a sweetie!

Some say it's Friendship Day. Chillycraps prefers to call it a Thursday (That's a good one! lol). To me, it's still a Valentine's Day! :)

Many commented that Valentine's Day is too commercialised with rocket-high prices for set dinners, flowers and chocolates. That is why they choose to spend the day just like any normal day. While I agree that couples should not only display their affections by spending lavishly on this day and taking each other for granted again on the next or remaining days, I feel that a little surprise on this special day does help to spice up life (and love) a little. I am glad that my hub is still putting in effort on this, however small the gesture is. :)

This donut by itself can only earn a 5. It's way too sweet. Even sweeter than my hub. >_<" I am glad I didn't have to queue up for that.

Haagen Daz

As in previous years, we went down to River Hongbao to have a feel of the Chinese New Year Festival. We didn't really comb the whole area before heading towards the Esplanade.

I was hungry for dinner, but my hub wasn't. While searching for a restaurant to satisfy my hunger, we passed by Haagen Daz.

"We can make use of our S$25 voucher!", I exclaimed, before realising that it was a bad time to bring this out.

Before I can react further, I found myself in the restaurant with my hub.

I wasn't too inclined to have ice cream for dinner, but I convinced myself that I need to cut down on my weight anyway. Having just ice cream for dinner might just help. *try to forget the fats and sweets*

I wanted waffle with ice cream, but their machine for making was spoilt. :(

New York Brownie (8/10) - Brownie with Cookies & Cream and Coffee Ice Cream

It was a nice treat, but nothing to shout about.

Banana Split (8/10)

My hub wanted something (can't rem) but they don't have it either. So he chose to have the classic banana split. Again, pretty ordinary, but nice enough.

That was the first time I dined in. Frankly speaking, I doubt I would dine in at Haagen Daz again, unless of course, I have another voucher. The ice-cream are good but not that good to match up with the price. Even if I have cravings, I would probably stick to my tubs.

Hang Heung 老婆饼

My hub bought 老婆饼 for his 老婆 (me) to snack on. How sweet! And how timely! I was famished because I had a quick and early dinner today.



He boasted, "This is imported from HK one ah. Only selling at Taka Atrium now."

The next moment, I spotted this.



"They have a cake shop in Singapore lor!" My lor + exclamation mark seemed to have shaken his confidence a little.

"Issit?" he asked sheepishly.

As I was typing this, I think he's right! :P I mean which cake shop would locate itself in the high floors of an office building? :P

Anyways, The 'wife cake' was a little warm when I took it and that's always a plus point for me. The crust was good! I am sure you can tell from the following photo ... :)
